Nenad Marković é um acadêmico, conferencista e curador independente. Os temas centrais de sua pesquisa giram em torno da história e da arqueologia do Delta do Nilo na última parte do primeiro milênio a.C, com ênfase particular nos touros divinos Apis em Mênfis. Ele estudou História Antiga e Egiptologia em Belgrado e Praga e ganhou reconhecimento internacional através de extensas publicações e palestras sobre seus temas de pesquisa. Foi instrutor de egiptologia no Museu de Arte Africana de Belgrado de 2018 a 2020 e é membro associado da Royal Historical Society (Londres).
RESUMO DA FALA:
The High Priest of Ptah at Memphis is officially known as the “Greatest of the Directors of Craftsmen (wr ḫrpw ḥmwt)”, a title exclusively reserved for influential individuals who consistently belonged to the social and political elite and maintained close links to the king across various historical periods. The lecture presents a comprehensive survey of our knowledge regarding the office in the Saitic and Achaemenid Periods. In the 26th (Saitic) Dynasty (664–526 BCE), the title in question was initially conferred upon a scion of prominent local priestly lineage and subsequently passed on within another family for a minimum of six generations, thereby establishing a local non-royal dynasty. Following the Persian conquest in c.526 BCE, the same family retained their position in office and likely continued to provide titleholders throughout the 5th century BCE. Our knowledge of the office during the 4th to early 3rd centuries BCE is constrained due to the limited number of sources.

Kathrin Gabler especializou-se no Reino Novo/Bronze Tardio, textos hieráticos e no assentamento de trabalhadores de Deir el-Medina. Seus interesses de pesquisa englobam desde aspectos sociais e econômicos até prosopografia, estudos da cultura material e “biografias de objetos”. Após concluir suas pesquisas em Egiptologia, Arqueologia Clássica e Estudos Religiosos em Munique e Leiden, obteve seu PhD em 2016, investigando o serviço pessoal de Deir el-Medina. Lecionou Egiptologia na Universidade de Basel até 2022, onde realizou sua pesquisa de pós-doutorado “Crossing Boundaries” e iniciou o projeto da TT 217, junto ao Institut Français d’archéologie orientale (Ifao Cairo). Posteriormente, Gabler assumiu um cargo de vice-professora na Universidade de Copenhagen. Atualmente, é pesquisadora sênior no Instituto de Arqueologia Alemão, filial do Cairo (DAIK), onde é chefe do arquivo fotográfico e da German House Thebes.
RESUMO DA APRESENTAÇÃO:
In the 250 years of the Ramesside period, various administrative and literary text types appear in Deir el-Medina, which, however, on closer, diachronic study are not randomly distributed between the 19th and 20th Dynasties. The lecture offers an overview of the development of administrative text types and contextualises this development with social, practical and economic factors, especially against the background of existing and new theses on the profession “scribe” in Deir el-Medina. Some case studies will provide insights into this development of hieratic text types.

Daniel Soliman recebeu o título de Doutor em Egiptologia pela Universidade de Leiden em 2016, com dissertação sobre marcas de identidades e letramento na comunidade de trabalhadores da necrópole real de Tebas. Na Universidade de Copenhagen, ele participou de um projeto de pesquisa sobre a economia e administração da construção de tumbas
monumentais durante o Reino Novo. Entre 2018 e 2019, Daniel Soliman contribuiu com o projeto de pesquisa no Museu Britânico sobre trocas de antiguidades egípcias e núbias. Desde 2019, ele é curador da coleção egípcia e núbia no Museu Nacional de Antiguidades
em Leiden, onde trabalhou na exibição Kemet: Egypt in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul & Funk.

Since the early nineteenth century, ancient Egyptian and Nubian cultures have inspired intellectual and artistic production in the African diaspora. African-American intellectuals striving to obtain social equity and to improve the social-economic position of their communities believed that fostering self-awareness should stand at the basis of real change. Later, numerous Black artists from the African continent and in the African diaspora have borrowed from ancient Egyptian and Nubian cultures, approaching them as quintessential African. By looking at the Egyptian and Nubian past, they have endeavoured
to inform the present and shape the future of Black communities. They challenge
Eurocentric and racist historiography of African cultures and promote Afrocentric and Pan-African perspectives on the ancient cultures of the Nile Valley. This talk explores the work of Black musicians from the 1950ies to today, working in the genres such as jazz, soul, funk, rap, disco, reggae, afrobeat and house. Music is here taken in the broadest sense, to include sound, lyrics, album art, music videos, and dress. More than entertainment, some of the underlying ideas of this musical tradition are relevant to understand understanding the politics of knowledge production in the field of Egyptology
